A company and its director have been fined after they failed to provide welfare facilities at their construction site in Belsize Park, North London.
The company, ID8 Design and Build Ltd were in charge of the site at Carlington road, where they were carrying out a refurbishment activity of two storeys flat into a converted house.
Health and safety executive report on the unusable toilet
On 29 November 2021, During an inspection, the HSE found out that the company do not comply with the minimum requirements of the welfare facility arrangement. The toilet provided was not flushable and was in a room without a door or window coverings. There was no sink, no hot water, no soap and no towels. The HSE issued an improvement notice.
On 5 January 2023, During another inspection, The HSE found that no sufficient improvement has been made following the last inspection.

On 15 February 2023, At Westminster Magistrates’ Court, the company, ID8 Design and Build Ltd, of Blatchington Road, Hove, East Sussex having pleaded guilty on 18 January 2023 to breaching Section 33(1)(g) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, was fined £1334. And ordered to pay costs of £1748 and the director, Adeel Bhatti having pleaded guilty on 18 January 2023 to breaching Section 33(1)(g) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 by Section 37(1) of the act, was fined £416 and ordered to pay costs of £1622.07.
