- The Key purpose of this role is to ensure environmental legal compliance in the supply operations while improving safety culture and delivering our vision for a better world.
- It also impacts the VIC costs negatively if usage is out of control and co-product revenue delivery needs better managed.

Key Outputs and Responsibilities for safety and environmental controller job.
- Ensure conformance to specifications and standards.
- Lead the establishment of a SAFETY-FIRST culture by implementing the behavioral safety program.
- Ensure the delivery of results by implementing VPO standards and relevant Safety and environmental SOPs.
- Manage the Safety and Environment function, including Operations and Maintenance of BTS.
- Lead the elimination of all identified safety and environment risks through sharing safety alerts and driving closure of identified gaps from problem-solving and incident and accident investigations.
- Create Safety and environmental awareness through planned and unplanned campaigns such as World Environment/Safety Day activities.
- Lead the risk management program comprising occupational health, Safety, and risk management.
- Manage departmental Budget / Finances.
- Lead Safety in site project execution, defining minimum requirements at all stages and monitoring compliance during planning and execution.
- Lead the establishment of a capacitance engineering capability.
- Ensure the plant’s legal compliance and adherence to legal standards/regulations.
- People Management Facilitates team problem-solving and decision-making.
- Lead the Safety and environment team in a manner that engenders ownership, empowerment, and team interaction.
- Conduct regular Safety and environment team goal review sessions.
- Ensure that training needs analyses are conducted and that training plans are developed for team members.
- Ensure appropriate competencies are developed in the team and cross-skilling occurs within the Safety and environment team.
Profile
- B Tech: Mech or Electrical / BSc Mech or Electrical / BSc Environmental Science
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods environment.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Safety/environment Facilitator or Controller role.
- Desirable but not Essential.
- Tertiary qualification in Safety and Environment Management and Auditing.
- Orientated to team and success.
- Critical thinker.
- Good communication skills, both verbal & written.
