What circumstances should require training for workers in a workplace?

In the workplace, workers are exposed to hazards and diseases when not managed properly. But a lot of things the management can do in order to prevent hazards and risks from causing harm. One of those things is training the workers on the risks associated with your work. However, some circumstances can require training to be conducted in the workplace. Those circumstances include the following.

What circumstances should require training for workers in a workplace?

1.New technology.

When there is the introduction of new technology in the workplace, there will be a need for workers to know how to use that technology because new technology creates new hazards and risks. Those new hazards have not been captured properly in the risk assessment. So, workers need to be trained on how to manage the risks and hazards of the new technology.

2.New employees.

There’s always an induction training that is conducted for new employees when engaged in the organization. It’s offers an opportunity for workers to obtain knowledge about that organization and on how to work safe and in a structure manner. Induction is best conducted before the worker start work when employed. There a lot of topics that can be captured during the induction training on the include

  • The health and safety policy of an organization.
  • First aid facilities in place.
  • General safety rules.
  • Worker consultation arrangements in place.
  • PPE requirements.
  • Risks assessments procedure in place.
  • Safe system of work in place.
  • Fire emergency procedures in place.
  • Safe movement around workplace.
  • Accident and Accident Reporting procedures.
  • Other procedures in place.

3.When there is job change.

Change of job will require training of the workers to meet up with the new change. Job changes exposes in worker to new hazard and risk. For instance if you’re working an office setting, and your new job role requires you to work inside the construction site you will require a training for that. There are some workers that their job does not require them to work alone, but the moment the job changes in a way that they have to work alone, they will require training to meet up with the demands of the new job.

4.New legislation.

When there is a new law in place within a country or a sector that affects the the head and safety in the workplace, there is need to acquaint the workers with the new law so that the workers will have an understanding of the law and is requirements.

5.Change in process.

Whenever there is a change in process, there is a need to train the workers in the new way that work is being managed. Workers may be at risk of new hazards.For example, when a different product is being produced, there is a need to train the workers on the new way of operating the new machine for new work.
